You can vote in Illinois if:

  • You are a U.S. citizen.
  • You are at least 18 years old on or before the date of Election Day.
  • You have lived in your election precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day.
  • You are not currently in jail/prison. If you have a felony on record and have already served your time, you can still vote.
  • You are not claiming the right to vote anywhere else.

  • Mail-in ballots
    Illinois is a no-excuse vote by mail state, permitting all registered voters to safely cast a ballot from home. 
  • Early in-person voting
    Cast your ballot early and in person beginning in every ward 2 weeks before Election Day. 

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.
