Note: Civil liberties are what’s based in the bill of rights and Constitution. Civil rights are legal protections for those of any race, gender, sexual preference & identity, disability, etc.
• Mr. Williams believes law-abiding citizens (21 years or older) have a constitutional right to purchase a firearm legally for hunting or self-defense purposes. It’s a moral obligation to defend oneself, friends, and family if a situation arises. However, he is opposed to the unregulated online sale of 3D gun print plans and believes AR-15s should be banned from civilian use. He strongly advocates for the implementation of universal background checks that should include increased waiting periods from 3 to 10 business days. Additionally, he believes in other requirements for owning a firearm should include a mental health assessment, training and certification, and mandatory liability insurance. These protections will help lessen potential future incidents involving mass shootings and nurture an environment of public safety.
• He is in favor of nullifying federal drug laws against Marijuana, and legalizing it (medical and recreational usage) for people ages 21 or older. As history shows, Alcohol Prohibition (1920-1933), had a minor effect on preventing Americans from drinking. This caused a black market in which caused: overdose deaths, gang violence, and a steady increase of crime. Marijuana should be taxed and regulated like alcohol and tobacco. Also, all non-violent drug offenders should be immediately set free from prison and their records expunged.
• Mr. Williams favors the legal drinking age federally of 21 years old or older.
• Mr. Williams favors the decriminalization of prostitution. Locking up individuals for victimless crimes and ‘bad habits’ then putting them in a cell with murderers, rapists, and child molesters won’t rehabilitate them.
• Mr. Williams favors bail reform for non-violent offenders (who usually come from poverty).
• Mr. Williams favors that all State & local law enforcement wear body cameras, left on while on duty and footage made available to the public at request.
• Mr. Williams believes in marriage equality among heterosexual and same-sex couples.
• Mr. Williams believes in protecting and upholding transgender rights.
• Mr. Williams is against Eugenics, domestic violence, abuse of animals, corporate/auto bailouts, and Mandatory minimum sentencing for non-violent drug offenses.
• Voting rights in all 50 states should be expanded by implementing same-day voter registration & mail-in ballots for all American citizens.
• Mr. Williams is opposed to federal legislation that infringes on the privacy of the American people such as the Patriot Act, NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) & NSA warrantless spying.
• TSA (Transportation Security Administration) should be fully unionized and hiring military veterans should be priority.
• Mr. Williams favors mandatory vaccinations (unless you have a history of health issues or religious exemptions) for most Americans. He also believes if an infectious person willingly chooses to not get vaccinated and does get someone sick, they should be held criminally liable for the victim(s) illness and/or death.
• Mr. Williams favors overturning Citizens United. The notion that money is speech, corporations are people, and large sums of undisclosed cash to politicians in exchange for influence and favors by lobbyists weakens the integrity of our elections. He also believes no member of Congress or their spouses should be allowed to trade stocks.
